  You have more choices in Cumberland, MD that just Dr, Carpenter. Dr. Jackson is also in town.....her office is at the hospital and she is amazing! If your doctor refers you to someone for hand issues or Carpal Tunnel surgery, don't just go with the flow, ask to see someone different. All the physicians and clinics in the area like to only refer patients to Dr. Carpenter as if he's the only one in town that can handle what you need. I had a very bad experience with Dr. Carpenter and his staff. They already had my info, but scheduled me to see the PA (knowing that surgery was needed). The PA wast't sure and he wanted Dr. Carpenter to come and check out my case. Well, we were there a total of three hours, and just when we were standing up to leave the door opened, but it was only the nurse. They wanted to reschedule me for the next day to meet with the Dr. So, day two I showed up and got right in the room. Dr. C came in within a few minutes, put down my file open all my papers and said 'so, what going:. Well, you had the PA talk to you and you reviewed my case, so, why come with my info and say, 'what's going on'? You should have already been aware Secondly, the nurse who got me in the room and went over everything was nasty and had lots of attitude. She was not polite at all. The overall impression and feeling I had from the second I set foot in there was pretension. It felt like 'well, he's the best so you should be lucky to have an appointment with him.
